Combining 2 challenges with my card today -
CAS(E) This Sketch #177, which I flipped
as well as this week's Time Out Challenge #59, which is "Masculine with a optional twist of mixed media".
Fun, right?
And today happens to be my DH's birthday :-)
I asked his opinion on my last card post, and sure it had "MASCULINE" written all over it (not to mention my love for him). But, he has already seen it ... so what surprise is there in that???
So I had to get hopping today while he was at work as we're celebrating his special day tonight, and this is the card I came up with:
Avery Elle's adorable Ellie is helping me wish him a very Happy Birthday.
I broke out my Primsacolor Watercolor Pencils for this special occasion - it's been AGES since I've coloured an image with them, but this little darling made it quick & easy. A bit of DP for the heart balloon and a sponged sky helped me with my "scene", and of course, for those who know me, you know how much I love my flowers, so I added some Flower Soft to the tops of my grass image to create my wildflower "garden" (is this considered a "mixed media" product? I think so).
Thanks for joining me today - I'm off to finish up the "pièce de résistance" ... birthday cake, of course! :-)
I love the way you created the grass and amazing colouring, thanks for joining TO
ReplyDeleteThat little elephant is so cute and a nice choice for the balloon. What I'm amazed at is your incredible sponged sky! I wish I could do that - care to share how you created it?
ReplyDeleteHappy to share ... I use different cloud diecuts, and add some hand-torn cardstock that replicates the shape of clouds. Then I begin to sponge, moving the edge and/or switching up the shapes until I create a sky that looks somewhat "real". Hope that makes sense :-)
DeleteYour sweet little ellie is adorable, Susi ... fabulous with his cute paper pieced balloon and texture-y wildflower meadow! That sky is amazing! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Time Out! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteLove how you flipped the sketch! Adorable little scene!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic card! the garden is just superb and really comes to life, loving the sponged sky too. As much as I try, I just can't seem to colour well (practice practice practice!!!)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love how you rotated the sketch! Super sweet card!
